HEZEKIAH TRUSTED GOD 2 Kings 18-20

Pre-Story Activity: Provide construction paper and add-on’s for each child to make a crown.

Story Instructions: Every time the boys and girls hear the words “King Hezekiah” in the story, they are to place the crowns on their heads.

Bible Story: King Hezekiah was ruler of the country of Judah.  He was a good man who loved and served God.  He lived an honest life and did everything he could to please God. One day a wicked ruler announced: “I am going to war against you.  I have a powerful army of men and we will win.”

That could have turned out to be a very bad day for King Hezekiah.  Being outnumbered by the Assyrian army was NOT good news. He could have become really discouraged but he decided instead to pray.  King Hezekiah asked God to save them from the wicked ruler and this impossible situation.

God answered King Hezekiah’s prayer!

It turned out that King Hezekiah had ANOTHER really bad day in his life when he became very sick.  None of the doctors know how to make him better.

King Hezekiah felt sad he was going to die and cried a lot of tears.  He did not want to stop being ruler of his people.  He wanted to continue teaching the people to do right and follow God.

King Hezekiah could have lost all hope but instead he prayed: “God, please heal me and make me well again.”

God heard King Hezekiah’s prayer and saw his tears.  God answered his prayer and healed his disease.
