PLANNING YOUR SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN LIVES

Do you begin your lesson preparation praying, “God, what ONE key principle do the boys and girls in my class need to assimilate in their lives this week?”

In order to make a lasting difference in children’s lives, you need to have ONE key principle which the boys and girls in your class will assimilate into their lives.  Most published curriculum lessons provide lesson aims. You need to choose ONE of these which will become your focus for the day.

The ONE key principle needs to be personalized because you want your class members to say it over and over and over. Perhaps your lesson focuses on the story of Abraham and Sarah and baby Isaac. The personalized aim could read: I can trust God to keep His promises.

Post the lesson aim around the room.  Every time there is a free moment, say it together. Post it on the door and have each child say it to you before leaving.  Attach the visuals to unusual locations so the kids will notice:  Yourself, the floor, windows, and the ceiling.

Weave all activities through your purpose aim.  The story should highlight your purpose. Activities and games should review your purpose.  Scripture memorization should reflect your purpose.  Music should reinforce your purpose.
