PROMISES Devotion-in-Motion

Theme:  God Keeps His Promises

One of the first promises in the Bible happened after Noah built the ark, the big boat to save his family from the flood.  God promised Noah he would never flood the earth again and He sent a sign.  Do you know what that sign was?  God gave the rainbow as a sign or promise that He would never again flood the earth.

God promised Abraham that his descendents would be a blessing to all the nations.  The greatest descendent of Abraham is Jesus who was born two thousand years after Abraham lived.  Wow!  God will bless you forever if you trust in Jesus.  I’m so glad God keeps His promises!

God promised Simeon that he would not die before he saw the Messiah.  Then one day in the Temple, Simeon got to hold Jesus!  Simeon learned that God’s promises always come true.

People who live a long time in the world learn that God keeps every promise He ever made.  He promises, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”  Even our friends can’t make that kind of promise!

Discussion Questions:

1.  What is a promise?  (A statement that a person will or will not do something)

2.  Has anyone ever made a promise to you they didn’t keep?  Would you be willing to talk about it?

3.  How do you feel inside when someone breaks a promise and doesn’t follow through?

4.  How does it make you feel to know that you can trust God who makes big promises and  always keeps them?
