CROSSING OF RED SEA BIBLE STORY

Red Sea

Preparation:Make a sign which reads, “OH, NO!”Tell the children every time you hold up the sign, they are to put both hands on their cheeks andloudly say: “OH, NO!”

Story: “We are FREE!  We are finally free!” the Israelites said one to another. “God’s mighty power delivered us from being slaves in Egypt and He is going to lead us to Canaan.”

The Israelites walked and walked and walked until finally they reached the edge of a large body of water called the Red Sea.

“Now what are we going to do?” the people wondered. “We don’t have any boats to cross to the other side and mountains are on both sides of us.”  (Hold up sign.)OH, NO!

While the Israelites were thinking what they could do to continue their journey, they saw behind them Pharaoh and all his soldiers coming after them.  (Hold up sign.)OH, NO!

The Red Sea in front of them, the Egyptians behind them, mountains on both sides of them. They were trapped.  (Hold up sign.)  OH, NO!

The people said: “What are we going to do?We are in an impossible situation.”  (Hold up sign.)OH, NO!

Moses said: “Don’t be afraid. With God all things are possible. He will show us what to do.

God told Moses: “Lift up your stick and stretch it out toward the Red Sea.”

Immediately, the wind began to blow and blow and blow until the water piled up and up and up.As the people watched with wide eyes, the water divided into two great walls with a path right in the middle of the sea!

The Israelites started running as fast they could through the path until they were all safe on the other side. But as they looked back, they saw the Egyptians coming after them on the same path. (Hold up sign.)OH, NO!

Moses stretched out his rod again and the waters came tumbling, tumbling, tumbling back again to cover the path — and the Egyptians disappeared into the sea!

The Israelites were safe!God had taken care of them.
