Story: ”What IS that?” Moses wondered as he looked at the foot of the mountain. He had never seen anything like it before.
Moses squinted his eyes and looked again. “Amazing,” he said to himself.
Moses was taking care of sheep and goats for Jethro, his father-in-law, when he saw a bush blazing with fire.
“That’s really strange,” Moses thought to himself. ”The bush is not burning up and the fire is not spreading.”
Moses keep looking at the strange sight. Then he heard a voice from within the bush say, “Moses! Moses!”
Moses replied, “I’m right here!”
”Do not come any closer,”God said. “Take off your sandals. You are standing on holy ground.”
Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God, but he kept listening. He knew God wanted to communicate with him – talk to him.
God said, “I have heard the Israelites cry for help. It’s time for you to go back. I am sending YOU to Pharaoh to lead My people, the Israelites, out of Egypt. Go, now.”
Moses said, “Oh, Lord, Why did you choose ME? Why did you call ME for this job? I’m not important enough to tell the mighty Pharaoh he should let our people out of Egypt.”
God said to Moses, “I will be with you.”
