SAMUEL LISTENS TO GOD – Interactive Bible Story

Samuel

1 Samuel 3:1-10

Preparation: Tell the children that each time you raise your hand in the story, they are to say in unison “Samuel.” Practice twice.

Interactive Bible Story: “Good night,” Eli said to (Raise hand) Samuel.

“Good night,” (Raise hand) Samuel said to Eli.

The mother of (Raise hand) Samuel had taken him to the temple to help Eli the priest. Eli was like a father to (Raise hand) Samuel.

All was quiet.

(Raise hand) “Samuel” a Voice called.

(Raise hand) Samuel got out of bed, ran to Eli and said: “Here I am. You called me.”

Eli responded: “I did NOT call you, (Raise hand) Samuel. Go back and lie down.”

(Raise hand) Samuel went back to his bed and laid down.

All was quiet.

(Raise hand) “Samuel,” God called a second again.

(Raise hand) Samuel got out of bed, ran to Eli and said: “Here I am. You called me.”

Eli responded: “I did NOT call you, (Raise hand) Samuel. Go back and lie down.”

(Raise hand) Samuel went back to his bed and laid down.

All was quiet.

(Raise hand) “Samuel,” God called a third time.

(Raise hand) Samuel got out of bed, ran to Eli and said: “Here I am. You called me.”

Then Eli realized God was calling (Raise hand) Samuel. So Eli said: “Go and lie down. If God calls you again say, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’”

(Raise hand) Samuel went back to his bed and laid down.

All was quiet.

(Raise hand) “Samuel,” God called again.

(Raise hand) Samuel responded, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
