Star Search

Bible Verse:  This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him (1 John 4:9).

Materials Needed:  Yellow construction paper, scissors, marker, masking tape.

Directions:  Display the Bible verse in a prominent place.  Cut 26 stars from construction paper.  Write a word from the verse on each star.  Write the scripture reference on a separate star.  Place a small piece of double masking tape on the back of each and place on the walls around the room, low enough so children can reach them.

Activity:  Read the verse from the chart several times in unison.  Then have the children search for the stars around the room and put them in the correct order on a blank wall.  Now call on a child to take off a star from the wall.  Say the verse together.  Choose another boy or girl to take off a star and say the verse.  Continue until there are no stars left and the children are saying the verse from memory.
