VALENTINE'S DAY OBJECT LESSON
GOD’S LOVE IS LIKE A BOOMERANG
Preparation:
Try to have a boomerang available for the children to see. If you are unable to find one, make one out of sturdy cardboard to give the children the idea of what a boomerang looks like.
Object Lesson:
Does anyone have any idea what this might be? It kind of looks like an old bone or maybe something that I could use out in the garage. It is actually a toy called a boomerang. It is like a frisbee, but when thrown, it comes back to you.
That reminds me of God’s love. He gives us so much love that we can’t hold it all in, so we have to share it with others. Can you think of some things that you can do to show someone God’s love?
(Give the children time to respond.)
I love to help others when they are in need of some help, like holding the door for them when their hands are full. They will usually say, “Thank you,” or give me a big smile which makes my heart happy to know I helped.
Who put that happiness in my heart? (God) I shared His love with someone, and He turned around and gave me more love to share with someone else.
Music: “Boomerang” from In My Garden album. (Click on song title to hear a clip.)
